The problem

How to read Fabric errors such as "incompatible mod set", mixin failures and entrypoint crashes, and how to fix them.

Possible causes

  • Missing Fabric API or another required dependency.
  • Mods for a different Minecraft version.
  • A mixin conflict between two mods.
  • A mod crashing during its startup code (entrypoint).

How to identify the cause

  • Fabric's dependency check runs first and prints a readable list of problems before the game starts.
  • "Could not execute entrypoint stage" names the mod whose startup code failed.
  • Mixin errors name the mixin config, which usually starts with the mod ID.

Step-by-step fix

  1. Install Fabric API for your exact Minecraft version if it is missing.
  2. Fix every dependency or version problem from Fabric's list.
  3. Update the mod named in the entrypoint or mixin error.
  4. Update Fabric Loader itself.

If that did not work

  • Quilt can load most Fabric mods, but not all. If a Fabric mod fails only on Quilt, test it on Fabric.

Affected versions

Fabric and Quilt, all versions.
