About JourneyMap

JourneyMap maps the world as you explore it. You get a minimap on screen, a full-screen map you can pan and zoom, and waypoints you can share with friends.

It is useful in almost every modpack, from vanilla-plus to large tech packs.

Configuration

Open options from the full-screen map. You can change the minimap’s shape, size, position and which entities appear on it.

Compatibility

Minecraft versions with at least one release on Modrinth, synced 2026-11-07. Always download the file that names your exact version and loader.

How to install JourneyMap

Install on NeoForge
  1. Install NeoForge for the Minecraft version you want (1.20.1 – 26.3 supported). See how to install mod loaders.
  2. Download the JourneyMap file for your exact Minecraft version and NeoForge from an official source.
  3. Put the .jar files in the mods folder of your game directory or instance.
  4. Launch the NeoForge profile. Check the Mods menu to confirm JourneyMap loaded.
Install on Forge
  1. Install Forge for the Minecraft version you want (1.7.10 – 26.3 supported). See how to install mod loaders.
  2. Download the JourneyMap file for your exact Minecraft version and Forge from an official source.
  3. Download the required dependencies listed above for the same version: Common Network.

Common problems and fixes

The map is blank in caves or the Nether.

JourneyMap switches to cave mapping underground. Check the minimap preset and mapping options if it stays blank.

Frequently asked questions

What are the default keys?

J opens the full-screen map and B creates a waypoint. Keys can be changed in Controls.

Does the server need JourneyMap?

No. It works client-only. Installing it on the server adds optional features and lets server owners control what players can map.
