About Create

Create adds machines that you can watch work. Instead of storing energy in invisible buffers, power travels as rotation through shafts, cogs and belts, and every machine has a stress cost. Running out of stress capacity stops the line, so planning your power is part of the game.

The mod scales from a simple waterwheel and millstone to trains, steam engines and fully automated factories. Contraptions turn blocks into moving structures: drills, elevators, harvesters and doors.

Configuration

Create’s settings live in the config folder. Client options (such as the goggle overlay position) apply only to you; server options (stress values, contraption limits) are stored per world, and on a server the owner controls them. In single-player you can open settings from the Mods menu.

Most players never need to change server values. If you run a server and contraptions cause lag, the server config can limit contraption size.

Notes for Create

  • Create bundles its own rendering library (Flywheel), so you do not install Flywheel separately.
  • Addons must be built for the exact Create version you run. Addons made for Create 0.5.x do not load on Create 6.

Common problems and fixes

Game crashes after updating Create, mentioning an addon.

An addon was built for an older Create release. Update the addon or remove it until it supports your Create version.

Full guide: Incompatible mods and version mismatches

Moving contraptions render incorrectly or flicker with shaders.

Update Create and your shader mod first. If it persists, switch the rendering backend with the in-game /flywheel backend command.

Low FPS around large factories.

Large numbers of moving parts are expensive to draw. Lower render distance, add a performance mod your loader supports, and avoid stacking many contraptions in one chunk.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a Fabric version of Create?

The main Create project targets Forge and NeoForge. A separate community port for Fabric exists under its own project page; check that it supports your version before using it.

Does Create need a power mod?

No. Create runs on its own rotational force (stress units) from water wheels, windmills, steam engines and similar sources.

Can I use Create on a server?

Yes. Install the same Create version on the server and on every client.
